A number of property funds, amongst them a Dubai and a USA based fund, are planning to invest in total around 47 million euros this year. Some of them are continuing on previous investments in various parts of Spain, for example Imperio Group of Dubai which has recently renovated a historic building in Barcelona.
A British investment fund plans to spend 25 million euros on the construction of 5 luxury villas in Marbella. The residences will be built in Cascadas de Camojan, a sought after elevated area overlooking Marbella, on plots of between 2000 and 3000 square metres. The project is aiming completion in 2018.
This year Sotogrande is hosting 2 important international sailing events, marking its territory as a prime sailing destination. Between the 10th and 15th of May the RC44 Sailing Championship will celebrate its 10th year in Sotogrande, and between the 25th June and 2nd July the J80 World Regatta.
Various projects have been put out to tender with a 1.8 milion euro budget for improvements in Marbella town streets. The mayor, Jose Bernal, said the works are aimed at improving an area which has been neglected over recent years and will be a significant boost to its development. The works are scheduled to last from five to six months.
Marbella is amongst the favourite places for property buyers in search of luxury homes, according to a new real estate report. Sales of Marbella properties of more than 900,000 euros accounted for 10.7% of all the luxury homes sales in Spain, a doubling over 2014. The highest demand appears to be in the range of 400,000 and 2 million euros.
Andalucia is the region that registered the largest increase in visitor numbers from last year, according to government statistics. More than 1.2 million tourists visited Andalucia, an increase of 5.1% over the same month in 2014. Altogether, Spain has welcomed 47 million visitors between January and August 2015.
